The Truth About Dieting – Part 1

I’ve touched on this topic in earlier posts but well worth a quick reminder as we come out of summer and everyone is now panicking about how much weight they have acquired over the holidays.

Sadly one thing I can tell you is the act of dieting rarely yields a long-term loss of body fat and as importantly has a number of negative side effects.

This article will help you understand why dieting is bad advice and provide a roadmap for getting sustainable fat loss results once and for all.

Dieting Leads To Poorer Body Composition & Worse Health

So here is the typical scenario I see with people I come into contact with new clients who share their experiences looking for quick fat-loss.

➡️They drastically cut back calories and increase exercise based on some idea they have read in a magazine article or that may be a friend suggests.

➡️After a short time, this increased output and restriction leaves them feeling deprived and hungry.

🔔 Behind the scenes, although there is some initial weight loss, in fact, it’s more likely precious muscle and water that is disappearing as opposed to just losing body fat alone.

➡️As a result of muscle loss – Metabolic rate drops.

➡️After the diet plan that was never sustainable from the outset fizzles out and calories naturally increase again so too does bodyweight. Before long not only has the original weight returned but now you have also replaced the lost muscle mass with fat also.

➡️ So now the new scenario leaves you larger than before dieting started, but now with the accumulation of extra fat cells and inflammation increased risk of associated disease.

➡️ The cycle repeats with another diet plan … and so on and so on🤦🏽‍♂️

Ok, smart arse I hear what you’re saying… “So what do I do next?!” 🤷‍♀️
